I dont want to
tire you
but I need to tell you something that I imagine you will already
know, but the inertia of our daily lives makes us increasingly unaware of
everything happening around us. We no longer bat an eyelid at anything: we watch
the mountains burn, the trees die, the rivers dry up, the birds and wildlife
disappear
We watch, then, how we
writhe in our own waste, trying to breathe the unbreathable, especially in the
large cities. And we are enduring all of this as if it were something
irreversible.
I would say that our
attitude is extremely cowardly, as we think of nothing but our own exacerbated
selfish interests of existing in whatever way from day to day without looking
ahead into the future that we are concocting for our descendants.
We allow ourselves to be
seduced by city life without realising that they are growing larger and larger,
they cant stop growing, its their fate, they have no choice; this
overwhelming growth observes no rules of ethical conduct or personal integrity
or of course aesthetics or the natural beauty of the landscape. |
